Monsters Of Rock, AC/DC, Van Halen, Gary Moore, Dio, Motley Crue, Accept, @ Wildparkstadion, Karlsruhe, Germany 1-9-84
This was an (un) organised bus trip we went on. At the time,it was an uncommon thing for peeps to be travelling to other countries for gigs. There was only a couple of companies doing it. We had a hotel in Frankfurt the night before the gig. It was still a long drive to Karlsruhe though ! When we got to the stadium the next day,we weren’t early enough: still queued up outside whilst Accept were on.We saw every other band though. This was also the last but one gig that Dave lee roth played with Van Halen !! A good experience, but, the bus journey was a killer.
Grand Slam, Young Blood, @Palais,Nottingham 12-7-84
Twisted Sister, Lita Ford, @ UEA,Norwich ,13-6-84
Twisted Sister, Lita Ford, @ Apollo Theatre,Oxford , 2-6-84
My dad drove us as usual. Like myself, he had a good eye of his surroundings & noticed things. Well, he saw a car which was local to Boston. Turned out it was a chap from Sleaford who often went to similar gigs as us. For this show we were up in the balcony. It was still a fantastic atmosphere up there though.
Whitesnake, @ Royal Centre,Nottingham 4-4-84
When we got there, we couldn’t find our seats, row T, as they’d been taken out to make extra room for the sound desk. We were given new seats in row K, which was fantastic 🙂 The reason why one ticket is white & the other is “aged” is the original was stuck behind the new seats. Didn’t see this for years until i started scanning my tickets !
Marillion, @ De Montfort Hall,Leicester, 5-3-84
Saxon, @ De Montfort Hall,Leicester, 20-2-84
Scorpions, Royal Centre, Nottingham 31-1-84
I’d wanted to see the Scorpions for ages. Unfortunately, the Royal Centre was the only place i could get to.(we hadn’t started going to Sheffield yet & i’m sure that would have been better ) If i’m honest, i’ve always thought that venue is rather lifeless. But beggars can’t be choosers, so have to make do. It was a cracking set list including all the classics from over the years. When i think about it nowadays, it was pretty much a perfect set list :
Bad Boys Running WildBlackout, Loving You Sunday Morning, Make It Real, Lovedrive, Don’t Make No Promises (Your Body Can’t Keep), Coast to Coast, Always Somewhere, Still Loving You, Rock You Like a Hurricane,Can’t Live Without You, Coming Home , Another Piece of Meat ,The Zoo ,Can’t Get Enough ,Dynamite
Marillion, @ Rock City,Nottingham 27-12-83
The first time at Rock City & there were certain nerves involved lol. The place has changed over the years. Back then, there used to be a food bar. Also, this show was kinda being filmed as there were screens it was projected onto. It was an in house system. I’ve often wondered if the shows were actually recorded…
