Another one where it pissed it down. Mr Gregor improvised with his rain hat. Bruce Dickinson jammed with Jovi & from the stage announced Maiden would headline next year ;-0
As legendary gigs go, this is right up there. Of course, at the time, i didn’t realise it would go down in history so much. For me, it was checking out this great band from the States. But not only that, i also saw one of Little Angels first gigs in London. No ticket from the night, but, i do have a recording 😉
This was well worth the effort/travelling etc. The opening act was Little Angels. Might have been their first gig in London ? They were pretty damn good. (Unfortunately, a few years later, they would become my “jinxed band”. Shows got cancelled, merch got lost in the post etc) Tesla are all about quality. Years later, when i saw them in Glasgow, i pretty much blew their minds when i showed them the old Marquee ticket! (Dave Rude, the guitarist might not have been born when Tesla played this gig! Or if he was, he’d be super young 😉 ) Not only did i manage to save my ticket, but also got a decent sounding recording of Tesla 🙂
This was pretty mad. Most certainly was a different kind of a crowd. At the time, i hate to confess, i laughed at them. I could never get into the 1st album “Show No Mercy”. But i subsequently loved Reign In Blood & South Of Heaven. Lets just say I was just a bit slow on the uptake to start off…
Many years later, i managed to find a CD of the Rock city gig…
