Yes, they really DID throw out bibles to the crowd !

Tesla, Little Angels, @ Marquee Club, London 18-5-87
This was well worth the effort/travelling etc. The opening act was Little Angels. Might have been their first gig in London ? They were pretty damn good. (Unfortunately, a few years later, they would become my “jinxed band”. Shows got cancelled, merch got lost in the post etc) Tesla are all about quality. Years later, when i saw them in Glasgow, i pretty much blew their minds when i showed them the old Marquee ticket! (Dave Rude, the guitarist might not have been born when Tesla played this gig! Or if he was, he’d be super young 😉 ) Not only did i manage to save my ticket, but also got a decent sounding recording of Tesla 🙂
Berlin, Town & Country Club,London, 9-3-87
This was fantastic. I went there without a ticket & bought one off a tout for less than face value. The place wasn’t very busy. But what a show. I loved it. There’s a LOT more to Berlin than “Take My Breath Away”. Stand out moment was when Terri walked into the crowd, up the stairs, across the balcony, back down opposite side stairs & back up on stage whilst singing…cannot remember which song.(EDIT : 2 people have said it was “Pink & Velvet” that she sung) Really hope one day i get the chance to see Berlin or Terri again.
UPDATE 2019 : OMFG they’re coming back to the UK ! Never thought this would happen in my lifetime. Smaller venues than I thought they’d be, but more intimate.
UPDATE 2020 : So my luck folded 🙁 Originally the tour was semi-cancelled with a few dates remaining. Then ALL the dates were cancelled. Such a shame. Had been looking forward to a Berlin tour since 1987. I very much doubt that I’ll see them in my lifetime now…

Tobruk, @ Marquee Club,London 7-7-86
I was into Tobruk so much that i decided to go see them down London at The Marquee. So pleased i went to this show, as they played “new” songs which wouldn’t see the light of day for many years to come ! (I think the CD was released after they’d split up?)
There’s also a great audience recording out there somewhere 🙂
Motley Crue, Cheap Trick, @ Hammersmith Odeon,London 14-2-86
The Whole Population Of Hackney (Maiden secret kinda) ,Marquee Club,London. 19-12-85
This was very special. A band called “The Sherman Tankers” had done a low key show & then the same guys announced this gig. Basically, Adrian & friends then on encores, Bruce Dickinson etc joined. Very rare to see a ticket for the show, but i looked after mine (even though i was offered cash to buy it)
Iron Maiden ,Waysted , @ Hammersmith Odeon,London 12-10-84
Last night i’d see of the tour & was up in the balcony. The great thing was that at this (+the other Hammy O shows) they played the extra tracks which they’d slotted in previously at other shows. I guess that they were rehearsing them for when they played Hammy O. The reason for this was that they were recording the shows for a live album. Of course, in the end they released the show from Long Beach with a few bonus tracks from Hammersmith. I’ve always thought Bruce sounded much better at Hammersmith….
Judas Priest, Quiet Riot, @ Hammersmith Odeon,London 17-12-83
We had the day down London & when we wanted to go back to our hotel,we couldn’t due to police cordoning off the area. At the time, we didn’t know that the IRA had set off a bomb at Harrods which killed 6 people. Strange as it may sound, when we did find out, i don’t think we were scarred or anything. The Priest gig was great. The following day me & Andy went to see Arsenal play & we were in the infamous North Bank terrace. The tubes didn’t run so much on Sundays back then, so, we had a bit of fun getting back to the bus station.
