Got there early & damn was it cold outside ! Whilst being the “one man queue”, skin was walking by inside & she saw me. Next thing i know, she’s gesturing to security to let me in. Good on ya gal 🙂 Had a little chat with her & Stumpy, then watched the soundcheck. Oh yeah, Stumpy took me backstage to get a pass so that security didn’t kick me out. Whilst getting it, i noticed the tour itinerary books (Items that only band members/crew have that give all info of the tour venues etc)….& he noticed i was looking “…& no, before you ask, you cannot have one ! 🙂 ” He knows me so well. (I’ve already tracked down a few from the ’97 tours etc. They cost a bit, but, are very rare & interesting items to have)

Julia took the train to Manchester & we met near the venue. I’d drove up there. We also met Marco (his group photo) & Nic at this show. Another killer gig from Da Skunks. I cannot remember if we stayed for a drink or not ?!? Pretty sure tonight bought the Skunk membership card or something….as once home i remember playing ” I’ve Had Enough ” on my PC & both myself & Julia were pretty excited about this new track…

This was VERY special. Production rehearsals for the tour , in front of an invited audience ! Thanks to my lovely friend Julia, i managed to get to see this one. I got down there early & bumped into “Trapper”. He took me inside for a look around. Later, Julia phoned & we met at nearby tube stop. Once back at the venue, Cass popped by & said hello. In the “venue”, the stage was on the same level as us. Was pretty bizarre. If my memory serves me right, there was a tape/barrier to keep a gap between us & the band. It was an interesting experience (btw, no photos at request of the band). seeing how things progress etc. Yeah, a couple of flubs, but hey , that’s what this was about: rehearsing. Towards the end, skinny said we could all move forward & have a dance around etc. This was an amazing unique experience & i’m forever in debt to Julia /skin for the invite. When i saw Julia talking with skin about it on her FB, i couldn’t help but take a screen grab for the memory 😉

This was the first of TWO gigs in one day for me…

I was filming this show. Did the first few songs down in the pit, then went up into side balcony. Caught a great moment when skin climbed up to the balcony. Went all the way around to opposite side, had a little dance with a lass up there. These are screen grabs from the film ;-).

This was a great gig but it seems a lot of us got ill during this show. Could very easily have been “swine flu” as there were outbreaks around this time. Poor Julia & Laura seemed to suffer the worse. After the gig we had a nice time drinking 😉

Columbiahalle is one of my fave venues in the world ! Ever since first seeing Guano Apes there back in 2000, i always look forward to visiting there again. At this show, Skunk filmed the gig & you could buy it on a wristband that had a mini USB drive which included it! How cool was that ?
